About Kathryn
A little about me…
I live south of Boston with my husband of 9 years and our two young boys. We both grew up in the North East and love the changing seasons (lots of opportunities for wardrobe changes), seasonal sports (especially hockey), our community and the numerous parks and reservations for family hikes and fishing.
My favorite hobbies are working out (cycling, swimming, running and lifting weights), gardening (despite being allergic to poison ivy ), photography and learning to play guitar, which has been a lifelong goal.
My style right now is feminine with an edge. I love color blocking and mixing prints, and have to wear earrings when I leave the house or I feel unfinished.
Professional
Experience
I spent over a decade working for numerous luxury retailers including; Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Prada, Burberry and Christian Dior. During this time I attended countless trunk shows, product meetings, fit sessions and worked with thousands of clients. It was through this experience that I developed an understanding for the major principles of styling and the profound impact personal presentation can have on our mental health and well being . A few years ago, after having our second baby, we decided it was best for our family if I stayed home to give us the consistency we so craved. Not before long, my friends and then their friends started asking me to style them and organize their closets. It was from these requests, and my desire to share my knowledge, that Sweatpants & Stilettos was born. My favorite part of this journey is empowering women to identify and develop their own unique style. Providing in-home styling and organization allows me to get to know each client on a personal level, understand their needs and give them the tools they need to be successful beyond our initial appointment. When it comes to styling, whether it’s teaching my clients the best way to compliment their body shape or finding value in what they already own by creating new combinations, a little guidance and a fresh perspective is sometimes all you need. Closet organizations are an investment up front but can save you lots of time and money in the long run. Taking inventory of what you own, eliminating excess clutter that is slowing you down and organizing it in a manner that supports your lifestyle promotes a sense of calm that you will enjoy every day.
Psychology of Style
We evolve throughout our lives and so should our style. We change physically and our bodies do amazing things like have kids! The demands of our lifestyles change, such as working from home, going back to a formal work setting or chasing around after kids. Our tastes progress and what we liked 15 years ago may not reflect who we are right now, and that’s OK! This progression is a healthy and natural part of life. Too often we hold ourselves hostage to a size or a garment purchased decades ago that no longer fits or reflects who we are today. A closet organization and or styling session is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with yourself and discover who you are in this present moment. It gives us the chance to let go of the baggage holding us back and start fresh. Whether we like it or not, we project our message out into the world every day. So why not dress for right now and make sure that message is the best version of you both inside and out.
